LinkedIn Premium vs Sales Navigator: Which One You Actually Need

LinkedIn Premium vs Sales Navigator is really a four-way decision, not a two-way one. Premium Career, Premium Business, Sales Navigator Core and Sales Navigator Advanced are four separate subscriptions at four prices, and most people arrive here having quietly merged them into one question.

Whichever way this comparison goes, here is what each costs through Searcora: Premium Business from $30, Sales Navigator from $30 for one month or $340 for 12. Both are activated on your own LinkedIn account and paid once for a fixed term. If you are genuinely unsure which fits, say what you are trying to do and we will tell you which one — including when the answer is neither.

This page separates all four and says plainly when the answer is to buy none of them. The routing, in one breath:

  • Looking for a job? Premium Career. Stop reading at the Career section.
  • Founder or consultant doing light research and a few approaches a week? Premium Business.
  • Running systematic B2B outbound? Sales Navigator — Core if you work alone, Advanced if a team or a CRM is involved.
  • Hiring rather than selling? None of these. It is Recruiter Lite.
  • And no — LinkedIn Premium does not include Sales Navigator. That question has its own section below.

Almost every comparison ranking for this question is published by a company selling a different product, so the answer always ends up being their tool. We activate all four of these plans, so we have no reason to push you up a tier — a customer on the wrong plan is a refund request, not a win.

Straight answer

The Short Answer

LinkedIn Premium is a set of upgrades bolted onto the LinkedIn you already use. Sales Navigator is a separate application with its own search engine, built for finding buyers. Premium makes you more visible and better informed; Sales Navigator makes you better at finding people. Job seekers want Premium Career. B2B sellers want Sales Navigator.

The confusion is LinkedIn’s own doing. Every one of these plans is sold from the same upgrade menu, all of them put a Premium badge on your profile, and Sales Navigator Core is often presented as if it were simply the next tier up — but it is a prospecting tool for finding decision makers, not a bigger Premium. It is not. It opens a different interface with a different search engine underneath it.

The practical test is what you do all day. If your work is being found — applying, pitching, publishing, being credible when someone checks you out — you want Premium. If your work is building lists of people who do not know you exist and working through them methodically, you want Sales Navigator.

One caveat before the tables: for plenty of people the answer is neither. If you log into LinkedIn twice a month, a free account and a properly written profile beats a paid plan you never open.

All four, side by side

The Four Plans People Confuse, in One Table

Most comparison pages set Premium Business against Sales Navigator and leave Premium Career in a footnote. That hides the most common mistake of all: a job seeker buying a sales tool.

There is a fifth tier, Sales Navigator Advanced Plus. It is an enterprise product sold through LinkedIn’s own sales team, LinkedIn publishes no price for it, and we do not sell it — so we will not guess at a figure the way several comparison guides do. That conversation belongs with LinkedIn directly.

Plan one

What Premium Career Is Actually For

Premium Career is the job-search plan. Everything in it exists to answer one question: how do I get in front of the person who decides?

The features that matter are applicant insights, showing how your profile compares with the other people who applied to a role; the full list of who viewed your profile, which tells you whether an application was ever opened; an InMail allowance for reaching hiring managers directly; and LinkedIn Learning, worth more than people expect if you are changing field.

It suits someone applying every week, someone targeting a named list of employers, and anyone whose applications keep vanishing into an applicant tracking system. It suits senior candidates especially, because at that level hiring starts with a person rather than a form.

Here is the part the sales pages skip: Premium Career does not get you interviews. An InMail lands in an inbox, and what happens next is the same human coin toss it always was. If your profile is thin, fix that first — it costs nothing and changes more than a subscription will. Every term is priced on the Premium Career page, including 2 months for a short search.

Plan two

What Premium Business Is Actually For

Premium Business is the plan for people whose business partly arrives through LinkedIn: founders, consultants, freelancers, anyone who researches companies and starts conversations without running a sales process.

You get extended people browsing, so you stop hitting the commercial-use limit halfway through a research session. You get business insights on company pages — headcount trends, growth, hiring activity — which are genuinely useful before a pitch. You also get a larger InMail allowance than Career, profile-viewer history, and a badge that makes a cold approach slightly less cold.

It is the right buy at a specific volume: a few carefully researched approaches a week, to companies you can name, where the relationship matters more than the pipeline. Consultants pitching six clients a quarter live here comfortably.

Its ceiling is sharp. Premium Business cannot save a lead list, cannot alert you when a contact changes job, and has none of the filters prospecting depends on. Once you are tracking more than a couple of dozen people you are rebuilding Sales Navigator by hand in a spreadsheet, badly. Every term is priced on the Premium Business page.

Plans three and four

Sales Navigator is not a bigger Premium. It is a separate prospecting application: advanced lead and account filters, saved lists, saved searches that alert you when something changes, and a relationship view of who in your network can reach a target.

The filters are the product. Seniority, function, headcount growth, recent job changes, company size, geography — and combinations of those held as a live search rather than a one-off result. That is the difference between finding a person and building a repeatable list of the right people, week after week.

Core or Advanced?

Both tiers share the same search engine and the same InMail allowance. Sales Navigator Advanced adds the collaboration layer: TeamLink, Smart Links, shared lists, CSV upload, buyer intent signals, CRM sync and team reporting. Working alone, Core is genuinely enough — the honest breakdown sits on our worth-it page.

Two limits worth stating. Sales Navigator gives you names and context, not email addresses or phone numbers, and it does not send sequences — that is what the tools ranking on this query are selling. And it takes a fortnight of real use before the filters pay off. Buy it the week you can commit to using it, not the week you are curious.

The question everyone asks

Does LinkedIn Premium Include Sales Navigator?

No. Premium Career and Premium Business do not include Sales Navigator, at any tier, in any region. They are separate subscriptions, billed separately, and upgrading to Premium Business gets you none of Sales Navigator’s search.

People believe otherwise for a fair reason: LinkedIn sells all of it from one upgrade screen, Sales Navigator Core is listed alongside the Premium tiers, both put the same badge on your profile, and the phrase “Premium Sales Navigator” turns up in LinkedIn’s own material. One family, one checkout, so it reads like one ladder.

Does LinkedIn Premium Include Sales Navigator?
CapabilityPremium BusinessSales Navigator
Profile-viewer history and InMailYesYes
Company insights before a pitchYesYes, deeper
Advanced lead and account filtersNoYes
Saved lead listsNoYes
Alerts on saved searches and accountsNoYes
Relationship and warm-intro mappingNoYes

The reverse also holds: Sales Navigator is not an add-on and does not require Premium first. You can subscribe to it on a free account. And you do not need both — that is a separate question, answered in the FAQ.

Routing

Which One You Need, by Situation

Find the line that describes your week. The plan in the middle column is the one to buy, and the reason is in the third.

That last row is not modesty. The most common bad purchase we see is Sales Navigator bought by someone with no defined target market, because the filters only become powerful once you can describe exactly who you are looking for. If you cannot write your ideal customer in one sentence, that sentence is the work, not the subscription. The second most common is a job seeker buying Sales Navigator because it sounded like the serious option: it has no application features at all, and Career costs a fraction of it.

The numbers

What Each One Costs, List Price and Through Activation

LinkedIn figures below were read in August 2026. Check them against LinkedIn’s own site before you commit — several widely-shared comparison articles are still quoting 2024 and 2025 numbers well below today’s.

Two rows are worth reading twice. Over twelve months, Advanced at $340 works out below Core at $30 a month, so on a year the tier stops being a cost decision. And the gap between Premium Business and Sales Navigator narrows to about $190 a year — small enough that you should choose on what you will use, not on price. Terms LinkedIn does not sell at all, like three months of Sales Navigator, exist because fixed-length campaigns are real.

How it works

How Activation Works — and What to Check Before Buying From Anyone

Whichever plan you land on, the mechanics are the same — and worth understanding before you hand money to any third party for LinkedIn access.

1

You send the email address

The one already attached to your LinkedIn account, plus the plan and the term you decided on above.

2

A licence seat is assigned to it

You receive an invitation and accept it while logged into your own LinkedIn account. No password is requested, and none is needed.

3

It runs on your account

Your profile, connections and history, unchanged. Support for the whole term follows activation.

Four questions to ask anyone selling LinkedIn access, us included. Does the seller ask for your password? Nobody should need it. Does the subscription land on your own account, or a shared login you borrow? Is there a named legal entity behind the transaction? Is a support window written down anywhere?

Those questions rule out most of what you will find. Shared or rented logins, pre-made accounts sold with a subscription attached, and VPN region-swapping all breach LinkedIn’s terms and risk account restriction — and it is your profile and your network carrying that risk, not the seller’s. Searcora Digital Ltd is UK-registered; founder Muhammad Amir is Top Rated Plus on Upwork with 600+ completed jobs at 99% job success. Terms are on the terms page; the full walkthrough is on the activation page.

Two routes, one result. Depending on the plan and term, the subscription reaches your account either as a licence seat assigned to your LinkedIn email address (you accept LinkedIn's invitation in your own session) or as a redemption link we send you (you open it yourself and redeem it; LinkedIn asks for a payment method on file, as it does for its own trials). We confirm which route applies on WhatsApp before you pay. Neither route asks for your password, and nobody signs in as you.

FAQs

Questions People Ask Before Choosing

No. They are separate subscriptions with separate prices. Premium Career and Premium Business upgrade the LinkedIn you already use; Sales Navigator opens a different application with its own search engine, lead lists and alerts. The confusion comes from LinkedIn selling both from the same upgrade menu, and from Sales Navigator Core sometimes being labelled a Premium plan. Buying Premium gets you none of Sales Navigator’s search.
For finding and tracking buyers, yes, clearly. For everything else, no. Sales Navigator adds filters, saved lead and account lists and alerts that Premium Business has no equivalent of. It does not make your profile more visible, does not help a job search, and adds an interface you have to learn. If you are not prospecting weekly, Premium Business is the better buy.
Yes. They bill separately and can run on the same account at the same time. Most people should not. The overlap is large, because search reach, InMail and profile-viewer history appear on both, so paying twice usually buys very little. If you genuinely want both, start with Sales Navigator and add Premium only once you can name what it adds.
Premium Career, without much argument. It is built around applying: applicant insights showing how you compare with other candidates, profile-viewer history, InMail to reach hiring managers directly, and LinkedIn Learning. Sales Navigator has no application features at all, costs far more at list price, and would leave you doing candidate research inside a sales tool for no benefit.
Sales Navigator, if selling means outbound prospecting. It is the only one of the four with advanced lead and account filters, saved lists, saved searches and alerts when something changes at a company you track. Premium Business can support a few careful approaches a week. Past that point you are rebuilding Sales Navigator by hand in a spreadsheet.
For low volume, yes. For systematic outbound, no. Premium Business handles a founder sending ten or twenty researched messages a month to companies they can already name. It cannot save a lead list, cannot alert you to a job change, and cannot filter by seniority or headcount growth the way prospecting needs. That threshold, not the price, is the real decision.
LinkedIn’s own free trial, if you are eligible. It usually runs 30 days, is limited to once every 365 days, requires card details and converts to full price unless you cancel in time. After that the cheapest real test is one month: $30 for Core, or $30 for a single month of Advanced through our activation. Conditions are on our free trial page.
