Wix SEO: How to Set Up a Wix Business Website for Local Search

By Muhammad Amir, Searcora Digital Ltd

Wix SEO used to have a poor reputation; today Wix gives you most of the controls local SEO needs, from page titles to structured data. The problem on most Wix business sites is not the platform but the setup: one long homepage, default titles, and no page for each service or area. This page covers where the Wix SEO settings are, what to change, and what still needs care.

Searcora Digital Ltd is a UK-registered company working remotely with businesses in the UK and abroad, on your Google Business Profile, your website and your listings. Google names three local ranking factors — relevance, distance and prominence — and each section below works on one of them; the full method is in how to rank higher on Google Maps.

Settings

Where the Wix SEO settings are

Every page in Wix has its own SEO settings, and the site has a central SEO dashboard.

  • Page SEO settings: open a page’s settings and use the SEO basics tab for the title tag, meta description and URL slug. Write each one for the search you want that page to win.
  • Wix SEO Setup Checklist: Wix’s guided checklist in the SEO dashboard covers the basics and connects the site to Google Search Console.
  • Site-wide defaults: set title patterns for pages, blog posts and products in the SEO settings so new pages never go live with “Home | My Site”.
  • Structured data: Wix lets you add or edit structured data markup in a page’s advanced SEO settings, which is where LocalBusiness JSON-LD can go.
Structure

Give each service and area its own Wix page

Many Wix sites put everything on one scrolling homepage. That page can only rank for one main idea. Create a separate page for each main service, and for each real area you serve, each with its own title, heading and content. Link them from the menu and from each other. Avoid duplicating a page and only changing the town name — Google treats that as doorway content.

Mobile

Wix mobile view and speed

Wix has a separate mobile editor, and elements hidden or rearranged there can leave the mobile page missing the phone number or service details. Check every key page on a phone. Keep images compressed, avoid heavy animations on landing pages, and test with PageSpeed Insights on mobile.

Local basics

The local SEO that matters on any platform

The platform only changes where the settings live. What ranks a local business is the same everywhere:

  • A Google Business Profile with the right primary category, linked to the matching page on your site — a location page for a shop, the homepage or a service page for a single-site business.
  • Name, address and phone written exactly as on the profile, in the footer and on the contact page.
  • One page per service and per real location, each answering what people search, not one page listing everything.
  • LocalBusiness structured data with your name, address or area served, phone and opening hours.
  • A fast mobile page with a tap-to-call button at the top — most local searches happen on phones.
Avoid

Wix SEO mistakes we see most

Most underperforming Wix business sites share the same problems.

  • Default page titles such as “Home” or “Services”.
  • Text inside images, which Google cannot read as text.
  • One page for every service, so none of them ranks.
  • Headings chosen by size, not by structure — several H1s on one page, or none at all.
  • A business name, address or phone that differs from the Google Business Profile.

How we start

How we start with Wix sites

  • Check the map pack for your main searches from a few points across the area you serve, to see where you appear and where you do not.
  • Compare your profile with the three that win — categories, services, reviews, photos and completeness.
  • Fix relevance first, because it moves fastest, then work on listings, reviews and local links for prominence.
  • Report what changed in calls, direction requests and website visits from the profile, not just positions.
